Our Story
"Don't ask me to leave you and turn back. For, wherever you go, I will go…." Ruth 1:16
In the year 2000, a mother began fulfilling her dream with her daughters to create a place that would help bring Biblical Truth into homes throughout South Carolina. Now, 20 years later, a new mother-daughter team is enlarging that dream with the goal of filling homes with Him throughout the country.
Everyone has a story, and our story began almost 40 years ago. The 139th Psalm tells us that God knows the plans He has for us when we are yet in our mother's womb. And, God decidedly had marvelous plans in place when He orchestrated the adoption between boy and girl twins and Jim and Peggy Morgan in 1981.
At 3 days old, I was adopted by the exact parents God had chosen to love and support me as I sought God's perfect plan for my life. There have been ups and downs, as with anyone, but through it all, my mom and I have had a bond that is unbreakable. It is that bond that has launched us into this next, very exciting, chapter of life!
Ezekiel 16:44 says " 'Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb about you: "Like mother, like daughter." When anyone meets us, they would not believe there is no blood relation. Mom and I look alike, think alike, act alike, and I could go on and on. However, where I am weak, she is strong, and she constantly encourages me to be the woman God has designed me to be.
For 15 years, we have loved the store, As For Me and My House, in Pawleys Island. After vacationing here for years, my parents made this wonderful slice of South Carolina's Coast their permanent home in January of 2019. Through a whirlwind of events in my life (during 2017-2018), God led me to move to Pawleys Island, South Carolina just 6 months later. In June of 2019, I was settled in Pawleys Island, and from that moment, each and every day, I could actually see God's plan for my life unfolding. When Mom and I found out that As For Me and My House was going to close, we immediately looked at each other and said, "We should purchase it!"
From that moment on, we have watched His Plan unfold. We have never been in retail and we have both historically had fairly flexible schedules, but there has been affirmation after affirmation about this decision.
So… Here we are… Shop owners, ready to take on this next chapter in our lives with the assurance of God's Word behind our every move. Scripture shares in Jeremiah 29:11, " For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
We know that God has this, and we hope and pray that As For Me and My House will touch and enhance lives through the JOY that comes only from HIM.
It is truly amazing when you see God work in your life in real-time.
I attended Clemson University and changed majors 3 times. Each new direction enabled me to discover, grow and develop a wide range of skill sets both professionally and personally.
In 2004, I began my professional journey; first in marketing, then in special events and business development, and finally in residential Real Estate. I am now learning the business side of retail and love each new day of discovery. It is exciting to merge my various skills as I strive to make this brand-new career a success. I have enormous enthusiasm for what I do, and I cherish the opportunity it provides to allow me to offer joy and brighten the day for
those whom I meet. I have always held to the saying that "only I control my attitude," and it is that phrase that inspires both my work ethic and my relationships.
Everyone has a story. For years, I endured personal struggles and challenges, but, through those challenges, I rebuilt my relationship with Jesus. God has truly held me in His hand, and I have seen Him turn what seemed bad into something so very good over and over again in my life…. He used these life experiences to continue to create the woman I am today. I deeply believe that As For Me and My House is the exact place He desires me to be in order to continue His perfect plan for my life.
